Club Knockouts

Here is the outline information for our annual club knockout competitions.

THOMPSON CUP

Gents singles match play knockout competition with a maximum handicap of 18, and played off the white tees. Full handicap allowance and full difference. This means this is the full difference between the 2 handicaps and that is the number of shots the higher handicapper plays with. The low handicapper plays off scratch.

CHIPPENDALE CUP

This is a mixed pairs match play competition, playing the green some format. Greensome is where you both drive off and then play alternate shots from the best drive. Gents play off the white tees and ladies off the read.

Times the high handicap by 0.4, times the low handicap by 0.6 and then add the two together to give you a total handicap for the pair (round up or down to a whole number). Then take the full difference between the two pairs new combined handicaps and the pair with the highest combined handicap takes the full difference as their shot allocation. The lowest handicap pair play off scratch.

PARKINSON CUP

This is a gents pairs match-play knockout competition with a maximum handicap of 18 and played off the white tees. 90% difference – work out the difference between the two handicap and take 90% of that amount. The higher handicapper plays off that many shots and the lower handicapper plays of scratch.

WALTER BURNLEY CUP

This is a gents singles match-play knockout competition for 18 to 28 handicappers and played off the white tees.  Full difference in handicaps: This means this is the full difference between the 2 handicaps and that is the number of shots the higher handicapper plays with. The low handicapper plays off scratch.

If your handicap reduces after the draw has been made then players must play off their new/current handicap.

SENIORS KNOCKOUT

This is a gents singles match-play knockout competition for 50+. This is played of the yellow tees with full handicap allowance and full difference. This means this is the full difference between the 2 handicaps and that is the number of shots the higher handicapper plays with. The low handicapper plays off scratch.

All the knockouts cost £5 per player per competition and all this money goes towards prizes at the end of the competition. Entry fees MUST be paid before the draw is made and are to be paid in the Pro Shop.
