Holes 7-12

Hole 7

A splendid hole featuring a pretty little pond on the corner of the dog-leg and several mature trees lining the fairway. Aim for the centre of the fairway. Resist the temptation to be greedy by aiming left because you will certainly find your route to the green blocked by trees. It is a testing long second to the green because the ground runs uphill at the end and there are two bunkers on the left. Click the map for a larger image

Hole 8

If you made par at the seventh hole you deserve the reward that awaits you on the next tee. If you encountered trouble you deserve some compensation and the view from the tee provides just that. This short hole is the feature hole on the course. From the elevated tee you can see precisely what is required and you need to be precise in your club selection because the green is only a tantalizingly short distance away but there is a pond between you and the flag. Some members have made strenuous efforts to fill the pond by firing into the water repeatedly but they have merely raised the water level. Subtle contours on the green and two adjacent bunkers complete the challenge. Click the map for a larger image

Hole 9

The tee lies in a pretty corner of the course featuring a pond and a copse full of daffodils and primroses in Spring. Occasionally neighbouring hens or geese will stroll out to honk in admiration or derision The brave and the strong will aim slightly left of the marker with their drive and then go for the green with their second by cutting the corner but if their talents or their nerve fail they will find a watery grave or rough deep enough to terrify a tiger  or even Tiger himself. The more cautious will aim for a wide gap in the line of mature trees and then face a short iron over two bunkers which guard the pin. Click the map for a larger image

Hole 10

This should be the easiest hole on the course from the yellow tees because a respectable drive up the fairway leaves only a short iron to a green which is bunkered to the left. However the competition tee offers a much more daunting drive because you must carry a small valley and aim accurately through a gap in the trees. Click the map for a larger image

Hole 11

This hole is slightly shorter than the tenth but a better test of golfing skills. There are two choices: either draw the ball a little round the line of trees, down the fairway and have a simple pitch to the pin or aim out to the semi on the right and play your approach over two bunkers close to the green. Hole 12

From the tee you can clearly see the flag on the skyline but it does not make the challenge much easier because there is gradual upward slope all the way to a fine green which is guarded by two bunkers front right and one close to the pin on the left. Click the map for a larger image
