Geoffrey Brown Player of the Year Trophy 2011
PAUL LANDS GOLFER OF YEAR A THIRD TIME THEN THREATENS TO QUIT EVENT
The Golfer of the Year came to a final conclusion last weekend when Paul Wood and Anthony Aitken saw out their season long battle to see who would be crowned this season’s Golfer of the Year. It has been a great event once again with several other players in contention until the final event. But it was between Tony and Paul on the last day and in very testing and wet conditions both players recorded fine scores, Tony a Nett 72 and Paul a Nett 69 to land the title by a mere 5 points, in 3rd place overall was reformed wild boy, Carl Wood.
Tony can be very proud of his achievements having been very consistent all season and he will surely be back next season to get even closer to landing the title himself. But hats off to the ever consistent champion, Paul Wood who has won the title three years in succession, something which will probably never be repeated. After a very nervy 7 on the 1st hole of his last event and nerves jangling Paul fought back to play to 4 on the day and show why he is Mr Consistent and the deserved Golfer of the Year for 2011.
Paul has stated however that he may have to drop out of next season’s competition because he sates that the pressure is too much. When asked what he meant by “pressure is too much” he replied “the pressure that he puts everyone else under” !
Congratulations from the Club Captain on a historic third win !
